L PLANET ROYALSUN: THE BIOGRAPHY In the 90’s it all started as a means of expression upon the youth tackling domestic issues in their neighborhoods to nurture morals to be better citizens. As time passed, hip hop grew into a culture bringing different races together. However, it became commercialized and its true intentions and existence began to fade away. Nowadays, we might say that hip hop is dead, but it is not only that few artists are maintaining it. On Malawi scene, L planet Royalsun whose real name is Mazalinkosi Madise is one of the a few artists who are maintaining the real hip hop. While conscious about the world happenings, he aims to rap about concrete teachings against the devil’s modern conspiracies of winning peoples souls. He started composing songs at the age of fifteen in high school after being inspired by the Wu tang clan, a hip hop group from the United States of America based in Staten Island New York. With his revolutionary content as a rapper, poet, writer and a natural philosopher he is the founder of a group called Royal blood army. In 2001, his cousin Temple-I who is an underground hip hop producer joined him, and they have been composing and recording songs ever since. In 2006, L planet’s longtime high school friend known as Tru Docssy joined the group and recorded an album together which was named after the group name Royal blood army. Since then the army got noticed and became popular in the underground hip hop scene. In 2008, he linked up with Third Eye and Dominant 1and worked together on their projects. The same year he performed at the Lake of Stars along with artists from Germany such as Planet Cajus, Orange son, and Mr. Minute. In 2009, while he working with other emcees and producers, he had his own shadow producer called Denreal I Rezart Unique. Since then he became the official producer for L planet after producing his underground hip hop hit single called “Secret Mission” from the unreleased album called “Devils Assassination”. In the same year L planet released his solo E.P. called the ‘’Divine Legacy’’ produced by his cousin/producer Temple I. With the popularity of the group it recruited new members which in total added up to fifteen members including the founders, and released another album together in 2010. L planet toured the country with Third eye, Dominant one, and Sage poet under a Germany sponsored project which he got more exposed to the world. In the same year he continued touring with L-CEEZ and Genii Blakk promoting L-CEEZ’s album and L planet promoting the Royal blood army’s second album called ‘’Royal Essence’’, produced by Denreal I Rezart Unique In 2011 L planet released an underground album called the ‘’Eye of the sky’’ which was for free to his fans when was performing at shows. The album contained explicit lyrics about what the nation was going through at that time, and of course not forgetting spiritual teachings, and more wisdom. In 2012 L planet released his official second E.P. called the Hidden Master produced, mixed and mastered by Denreal I Rezart Unique, and the Royal blood army album called the ‘’Roots of David ’’. The mission of his music remains underground for diplomatic reasons.
